Last nite I saw the B-52s with one of my best gay friends, Endora! The first time I saw them was at Summerfest in Milwaukee back in 1989 (that included my 1st time in an E.R., but that’s another story) Anywho, this marks the 4th time I’ve seen them perform!I They are still amazing! OMG did we have a blast! The night before, Flippy, Endora and I partied at Mad Planet – danced all night. It seemed fitting for the weekend because one of the B-52s albums is entitled Mad Planet. At the concert, I ran into a drag friend of mine, Karen Valentine – last time I saw her was at a Barbara Walters signing at Alverno. She was fabulous and she got to introduce the band before the concert. There was even a free beer tasting at the Pabst Pub in Milwaukee sponsered by Point Beer before the concert!
And can I just say, we were on the balcony front row and we were about the only ones dancing. Everyone else up there was sitting down. OK, I understand that at a Tori Amos concert, but the Bs?? It was sad. Some people even left and others told us to sit down because were we in their way. C’mon people, the B-52s are the ultimate party band and our dancing to their stuff was interrupting people?? OMG!
I hope i never get that way. If you’re going to sit at a B-52s concert – stay at home and listen to their CDs instead! I bet those people up there were just waiting until Love Shack. Too bad they played that one right away. Which is probably why most left. Yes, the B-52s actually have more songs than just that one. They’ve been around since the 70s.
After the concert we got chili dogs and watched Srodid Lives – Endroa never saw it. It was a great ending to a great nite of fun. Even with the downers at the concert.
