OOOOOOOOOOOh this is just too good to be true
Cheyenne Jackson, of Xanadu fame is gonna go on to another B’way show:
Cheyenne Jackson Broadway favorite Cheyenne Jackson is jumping from Xanadu to a workshop of Mormon Musical, a new show from the creators of South Park, according to the New York Post’s Pop Wrap blog. Matt Stone and Trey Parker are collaborating with Avenue Q composer Robert Lopez on the new tuner, which is set to start rehearsals in December.
“It’s hilarious—very acerbic and biting,” Jackson told reporter Jarett Wieselman at last week’s Out 100 Awards, which honored the star. “It offends everybody, but does what South Park does best; by the end it comes around and has something great to say.” Jackson revealed that he will play the show’s main character, a Mormon missionary, but did not reveal the show’s storyline.
Parker and Hairspray composer Marc Shaiman received a 2000 Best Original Song Academy Award nomination for “Blame Canada” from the feature film South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.”
